It is amazing what can happen in a week.
This time last week we were just getting home from a week’s vacation. We were relaxed, excited to be together as a family once again and ready to come home.
Once we got home we got acclimated to home life again, we got back to reality and it has been crazy!
This week I have experienced many different aspects of what it means to be a Pastor — I have been walking with people through different life experiences, those with whom life has given to much to handle, to those who have experienced loss in their life, to those who are helping me plan the next chapter in the life of the church. It has been a crazy, but good week of ministry.
As I posted, my blog has taken a whole new look (not on purpose). I still have a lot of work to do in order to get the blog to a place where I am completely happy with it. But I think it is taking shape. My biggest problem is importing my posts from November of last year. I have them saved in my Google Reader, and the only way I know how to retrieve them is by cutting and pasting. Not the best way to import them but it is better than completely losing all that work.
Now that I have caught up some at work, I hope to finish getting things ready at the church for the fall. It is going to be a busy and fun time at St. Mark’s.
So yesterday was a bad day for my blog.
I have been thinking about the goal and purpose of my blog. I have so many interests that I want to write about I started to feel like my blog had not purpose or direction. I had some ideas to help with that, so I started tinkering with some themes. Well in the midst of tinkering, I received a fatal error…….no one likes the fatal error.
After some googling and conversations with friends who know more about computers than I do, I came to the realization that I had to uninstall and reinstall wordpress.
Over the next several weeks I am going to be putting most of my time and energy into getting this blog up and running again — one of the things that I realized is that I have not backed up my posts since November of last year. I thought I lost everything! But thanks to a friend, I realized that I have the posts saved in Google Reader. Granted I have to copy and past them into a new blog post but at least they are there.
Thank you for your patience during this time and I look forward to showing you a new look and better, consistent content.
I realize that I have been in a funk for awhile when it has come to blogging — actually most of my writing has taken a hit the last few months. I think part of that is that I have been in a weird space lately. But I also have been working on my preaching. I have been putting more and more time in to preparing my sermons and I think [...]

Mental/Emotional Life I have not been in the “right space” to seriously blog lately. I have posted some great video’s and pictures but my content has been lacking. As things settle down in my head I hope to share more about that…..but in general my mental and emotional feelings have not been good. I enjoy my life, my job, and my family — but I feel like I am at [...]

When we came to Baldwinsville last July, we intentionally decided to rent at house instead of buying right away. First we did not have the money to put a down payment on a house, plus we wanted to get to know the area and life in ministry before we decided on a place to live. Last weekend we found a place that we think we will be really happy living. [...]
I never imagined that life in ministry would ever be so busy, especially this time of the year. I thought that after Christmas there would be a lull until Lent starts. Boy was I wrong. Amidst he business of ministry, family obligations, and whatever else comes up I am really excited about the prospects of the year. First the prospects of ministry: We have some new blood on the church [...]
After a long time away this blog will be up and running again. When we first had the idea of creating a devotional book based on stories from Calumet it took off like wildfire. There were facebooks created, emails sent, documents drawn up and a blog started. However, with the events that happen in life that passion was soon fizzled out. Like many things the devotional book became lower and [...]
Routine – Everyone seems to have it, it does not matter if you have a planned routine or not. What we do in life becomes a routine. This really became evident to me this morning when I woke up late. See when you have children you are use to not setting the alarm because more likely than not the kids are up at some crazy hour in the morning. But [...]
The Bible talks alot about justice and how we need to live in a just world. I am sure that there are doctoral dissertations written about the subject but how can I live this out? How can I show compassion, grace and love while at the same time live in a just society? This came to my mind recently after our car was broken into. They stole my sirius satellite [...]
I have been a pastor for a week. It feels good. I came into the church with 65-70 kids running around during Vacation Bible School. It was kind of crazy — but a good kind of crazy. I prepared for my first service as well as my first time presiding over communion. It was a good feeling — it really helped me solidify my call as a pastor. It helped [...]
